When most people think of solar, they picture solar panels on a roof. But the real magic—and the real danger if done incorrectly—lies in the electrical work hidden in the garage.
At PES Solar, we don’t practice on your house. We practice in our house.
We have built a dedicated internal training facility to ensure every expert solar battery installation is up to code and ready for an emergency. This commitment to hands-on education is what separates a reliable backup system from a potential safety hazard.
The “Lab”: Where Our Techs Get Certified
We utilize custom training boards that simulate the exact scenarios our technicians face in the field. This allows us to train our team in a controlled environment before they ever touch your electrical panel.
These advanced simulation boards allow our electricians to master complex electrical jobs, including:
-
Service Change Outs: Upgrading electrical services from 150 amp to 200 amp or even 400 amp systems safely.
-
Grounding Protocols: Ensuring the housing block and bare copper grounding wires are correctly run to grounding rods—a critical safety requirement for every home.
-
Main Distribution Panels: Wiring breakers and circuits to the bus bar with precision.
The “Brains” of the Operation: The Enphase Smart Switch
Installing a battery isn’t just about plugging it in. It involves a sophisticated piece of technology called the Enphase Smart Switch. This is the “brains of the operation.”
The Smart Switch communicates between your solar panels, your home, and your Enphase batteries. It decides when to charge the batteries, when to pull from the grid, and most importantly, when to isolate your home during a power outage so your backup power kicks in seamlessly.
Why “In-House” Training Matters for You
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are complicated. If you hire a company that uses untrained subcontractors, you run real risks.
You could try to set this up yourself, or hire an uncertified installer, and end up with a system that fails when you need it most. An improperly wired system might fail to power critical loads—meaning your Wi-Fi, refrigerator, or soft-start AC units won’t turn on when the grid goes down. Worse, if the circuits aren’t balanced, you could drain the batteries faster than the solar panels can recharge them.
The PES Promise
At PES Solar, our team is certified through Enphase training. Our battery techs learn how to wire jumpers, program backup panels, and manage critical load circuits right here in our facility.
We do everything in-house. We don’t subcontract out your safety. By the time our certified electricians arrive at your doorstep, they have already mastered the job in our lab. If you want to ensure your home is protected by a team that prioritizes safety and expertise, contact us today to learn more about your backup power options.
